MusicStockMarket.com is a place to find news and information about popular music artists as well as info on new and upcoming music artists. It includes unrivaled resources and links about many of your favorite musicians.
Our fantasy market is a place to buy and sell fantasy shares of your favorite musicians and artists much like you buy shares of companies on the financial markets - except it's free and there's no risk.
What are Points (PTS)?
Points (PTS) are like fake money that makes up the currency used to trade for artist stocks on MusicStockMarket.com. Upon registration, every trader is given 100 PTS to start trading with (for free).
In addition, users can earn 5 PTS for spending time performing research in their account for a maximum of 5 times per day, much like earning salary to show up for work.
Traders can then use their PTS to cash out for Rewards (cool prizes). For more on this, see Rewards Page.
How much does it cost to play?
Zero....Nothing - there is no charge. IT’S FREE!!!!!!
Who chooses the Artist's and how are market prices set?
MusicStockMarket.com sets the price value of an artist stock on the fantasy market by a combination of various methods including:
A) Using patent pending formula that includes the use of public information such as the artist’s real life earnings, album releases, # of albums, unit sales (see RIAA metrics), other gross sales information (concerts, other merchandise, etc..) , internet search volume( see Google trends!), etc..
B) Supply and Demand plays a major role in price change (ie buying/selling volumes of the stocks)
C) News and other information.... to drive the stocks value up or down.
Positive events drive stock value UP
- Charity
- Product endorsement deals
- Diversification (into non-music related products)
- Awards nomination
- New upcoming project/album
- New Contract/Label ...etc
Negative events drive stock value DOWN
- Arrest/Jail
- lawsuit/copyright infringement
- Negative album response from fans (flop) ...etc
Only the top 100 artists are made available for trade. From time to time, artists may fall off the market (De-List) and be introduced into the market (IPO), much like in real markets. See also the Mix Board below.
How do I trade artist stocks?
Step 1 is to sign-up and create a member account. We will give you 100PTS to start so you can trade immediately, and it’s FREE!!!! Once you are a member, you can log into your personal account where you will have access to manage your portfolio and be able to make trades.
***Please note that there is a 300 QTY limit to the number of shares a user can own of a single artists stock.
The goal is to: BUY LOW and SELL HIGH
When I log into my account, there are different PTS balances…what do they mean?
When you log into your account, you may see three types of balances:
Available Points – this is your available pts balance to use to buy stocks or redeem rewards. Your daily 5 pts is added to this balance. Buying stocks will decrease available points and increase points into Portfolio Value. Selling stocks will decrease Portfolio Value and increase this Available Points balance.
Portfolio Value Points – this is the pts value of all the stocks you currently own. These points are tied up in these stocks, and are not available to buy more stocks or redeem for rewards. This balance increases/decreases as the value changes each day, as well as from buying/selling of stocks.
Total Points Value – this is the total worth of your entire portfolio. This includes all your Portfolio Value points and all of your Available Points. If you sell all 100% of your stocks, your Available Points will be equal to Total Points Value.
What is the Mix Board?
The Mix Board is a collection of musicians and artists that are not included in the top 100 trading market (ie. no stock price, no buy/sell). Artists can register to become members of the Mix Board in order to showcase their work, promote their events, and develop a fan base, as well as promote commerce opportunities for themselves. These artists’ pages have all the same features of the traded artists pages including biography, promotions of event, resource links, etc. as well as access to valuable data and resources.
